Kurnool : Telugu Bhasha Vikasa Udyamam's procession

KURNOOL: The statue of Srikrishnadevaraya will be installed at Five Road junction in the city. తెలుగు భాష వికాస ఉద్యమం (Telugu Bhasha Vikasa Udyamam) which celebrated the 497th coronation of శ్రీ కృష్ణదేవరాయ (Sri Krishnadevaraya) here on Saturday took the decision to set up the statue in memory of great emperor who established an empire at a critical time and was instrumental for many development programmes.

The speakers said Krishnadevaraya had given importance to irrigation and set up tanks in every village. Water saucers for animals were constructed even in deep forest.

They said the contribution of Srikrishnadevaraya to development of Telugu language was immense.

Former MLA T.G. Venkatesh promised to meet the cost of the statue while Mayor S. Raghurami Reddy assured necessary permission for the statue. Earlier, the members of the organisation took out the portraits of Srikrishnadevaraya and Telugutalli in a procession in the city.

The meeting was presided over by K. Chandrasekhara Kalkura. Chairman of District Library Association Sankar Reddy, Gangadhara Reddy, Vaidyam Venkateswara Charyulu, Hiralal, Vicechancellor A. Rama Rao, A. Manjulatha and others took part.
