Hold debate on Telugu as classical language: CPI(M)
HYDERABAD : The State CPI (M) committee has suggested that Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy hold a special discussion in the ensuing Assembly session on recognising Telugu as a classical language.
In a letter to Dr. Reddy, copies of which were released here on Sunday, party secretary B.V. Raghavulu wanted the Government to prevail upon the Centre to bestow Telugu the status. At the same time, he wanted the Education Department to get information required for getting the recognition by issuing relevant orders to various Government wings.
He said there was popular demand from different sections of people across the State for according recognition to Telugu.
