Indian Idol II: India chooses regionalism over Talent

SonyTV's Indian Idol has become more of a gimmick with evident loopholes in the voting and selection process, and the program lacking in any kind of professionalism. This was further proved today when a superior singer NC Karunya 'supposedly' got less votes ( i won't even be surprised if i am told that the television channel tinkered with the original vote count to give us their own figures ) than his mediocre competitor Sandeep

Across India, and around the world, all sane people support Karunya. Within minutes of the result, the Wikipedia page for 'Indian Idol' screamed foul. Online forums now carry a lot of anger against SonyTV's faulty voting process, and for people who voted for Sandeep. The popularity for this contest is now going to fall tremendously.

Though Karunya has not been voted as the Indian Idol 2 by the sms/phone public, he undoubtedly has the best singing ability, and has been the favorite of the judges, and any unbiased lover of music throughout India and abroad. Inspite of being from Andhra Pradesh, where Hindi channels are not widely watched, he reached the top echelon of this contest purely through his talent. As for his mediocre competitor, the usual north-south favoritism, and his local mass Bikaner junta's support and their rigging of the voting process by repeatedly voting for him, acted in his favor.

This result has made a joke of this 'Indian Idol' contest, and is a SHAME for Indian and the organizers SonyTV.

Karunya has already won the appreciation of the bigwigs, and has a great future ahead in his singing career.
