The distribution of awards of Ramineni Foundation was held on a grand scale at Hotel Marriott (formerly Hotel Viceroy) on Wednesday.

At the same time, a total of 56 students from 56 mandals of Guntur and Krishna districts including Brahmana Koduru, the native place of Ramineni Ayyanna Choudari were also felicitated with scholarships worth Rs 3,000 each for achieving the highest marks in Class X.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Finance, medical and health Konijeti Rosaiah complimented the foundation for upholding the tradition and culture of India in general and the Telugu culture in particular. He says, 'Though staying abroad in western countries, the founders of Ramineni Foundation are keeping the tradition of felicitating prominent people in the country and became famous as a very prominent organization.' However, Mr Rosaiah expressed his deep sorrow at the diminishing family values in India and the rise in old age homes.

The Telugu University Vice-Chancellor, Dr Avula Manjulatha, says, 'Students in rural areas would have more clever than those in urban areas. Felicitating them with Ramineni Awards is worth laudable.'

Speaking on behalf of the selection committee, Dr BV Pattabhiram says, 'The Ramineni Foundation is least bothered about publicity but is trying to honour the excellence. This tradition should continue forever.'

State NRI Affairs adviser CC Reddy, noted writer Paruchuri Gopalakrishna and others also attended the programme.

Replying to the felicitation, Dr K Srinath Reddy says, 'Though I am staying in Delhi for the past 32 years, I am happy for getting a privilege in bagging the award, which is like a homecoming. I thank the foundation for selecting me to this award.'

Before the start of the felicitation function, popular singer Sobha Raju rendered Annamacharya Kirtans and enthralled the audiences.
