Annamayya Vardhanthi observed
TIRUMALA : The 503rd Vardhanthi Mahotsav of saint poet తాళ్ళపాక అన్నమాచార్య (Tallapaka Annamacharya) was observed on Sunday at Tirumala amidst great religious fervour.
In connection with the vardhanthi, the processional deities of Lord Malayappa flanked by his two divine consorts were taken around in a grand procession to the Narayanagiri Gardens - the venue where the festival formalities took off to a colourful start in the presence of the pontiff of Ahobila Mutt Srivan Satagopa Narayana Yateendra Desikan.
About 350 women devotees who performed `Kolattam' preceding the procession added to the elegance of the festival. The pontiff of the Ahobila mutt, who was specially invited for the purpose, lauded the devotion of the saint poet while the TTD executive officer A.P.V. Narayana Sarma, special officer A.V. Dharma Reddy and the TTD Annamacharya project director Medasani Mohan hailed the literary work of Annamayya who had composed several thousands of songs in the praise of the presiding deity Lord Venkateswara.
