Appajosyula award for Telugu scholar
HYDERABAD: The అప్పజోశ్యుల-విష్ణుభోట్ల-కండలం ఫాఉండేషన్ (Appajosyula-Vishnubhotla-Kandalam Foundation) will honour బిదురురాజు రామ రాజు (Biruduraju Rama Raju) with its `Pratibha Murthy Life Time Achievement Award-2006' at a four-day event to be held at Nizamabad from January 5 to 8. The `Visistha Sahiti Murthy Life Time Achievement Award' would be presented to దోర్బల విశ్వనాధ శర్మ (Dorbala Viswanadha Sarma).
The foundation based in the United States and established in 1994 to promote Telugu literature, drama and fine arts and to recognise and support individuals performing distinguished literary and social service, announced that the event would be held in association with the Indur Kalavahini, Nizamabad.
The schedule includes a seminar on folk literature, stage plays and presentation of awards.
Prof. Rama Raju contributed some 200 research papers in Telugu, Sanskrit, Urdu and English.
The 82-year-old freedom fighter happens to the first research scholar to be awarded a PhD on "Folklore and Free Verse."
