International Telugu meet to be held in Dubai

HYDERABAD: The 7th International Conference of the World Telugu Federation (WTF) will be held in Dubai, in April next year.

Disclosing this at a press conference here on Wednesday, WTF president V L Indira Dutt said a delegation of the federation met Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy on Tuesday and invited him to inaugurate the conference.

She said that holding the conference at Dubai would allow Telugus living in the Gulf countries to participate in large number in the world-level meet of Telugu-speaking people, showcasing their culture, history, literature and folk arts.

The other events of the meet include a `fashion show' and a cultural show by popular film stars, she added.

She said that the highlight of the two-day conference would be seminars on trade, commerce, industry, science, health and medical sciences where nationally and internationally reputed economists, businessmen and industrialist would participate.

This was meant to promote business and industrial opportunities in the country in general and the State in particular.

Vizag Regional Centre of WTF chairman Y Lakshmiprasad said that the foundation stone for the ‘Telugu Samskrithika Niketanam', (Telugu Culture and Heritage Museum) atop Kailasagiri Hill, Visakhapatnam would be laid in December.
