Instruction in Telugu medium stressed

Kakinada: The need for according importance to instruction in Telugu medium in all schools was stressed by several speakers at a function held at the Ideal College here on Friday to mark the inauguration of the Telugu Bhasha Sangham.

Mayor K.Saroja, who was the chief guest, said that Telugu should be made as the first language in all the schools. Another guest of honour, G Nageswera Rao, who is also a corporator, said that Telugu should be the medium of instruction at all levels. PVN Raju, president of the college's governing body, while stressing the need for giving priority to Telugu at all levels, cited how in China, Japan, France and Spain, even research was being done in their native language.

College correspondent Chiranjivini Kumari said that the Telugu Bhasha Sangham would strive for enlarging the scope of Telugu by organising workshops and seminars. T.Nagireddy, principal of the college, presided. The Mayor later distributed prizes to the winners of various competitions organised on the occasion.
