Tata Indicom launches Telugu voice station

HYDERABAD: Tata Indicom subscribers will now have an exclusive Telugu voice station, the third after English and Tamil.
At its launch here on Thursday, Tata Teleservices Limited (TTL) Chief Operating Officer, Andhra Pradesh, Prabhat Pani, said plans were on to have such stations for other languages soon. The content includes ring tones, dialogues and songs in different categories titled — movie specials, Chiranjeevi, Trisha and Brahmanandam zones, Tirupati zones, chartbusters, devotional zone, news, daily predictions and jokes zone. The charges are Rs. 6 per minute, without a fee for downloading.
He said they were working towards achieving a target of one million subscribers and covering 350 towns, with an investment of Rs. 350 crores primarily for increasing cell sites in the current fiscal. Currently they had a customer base of 6.5 lakhs and covered 230 towns in Andhra Pradesh through 475 cell sites. They had 100 exclusive True Value outlets, which were one-stop shops, he said.
Mr. Prabhat Pani said both in terms of service initiatives and new products, TTL was making strides. The most important service as of now was the free incoming roaming facility.
They had a range of products for voice and data communication individually and rolled-in-one handset too. The newly launched Tata Indicom `EGO' was the latest device for all those who did not want to lug the weight of a laptop, he said.
