Eminent writer Mullapudi Venkataramana will inaugurate the festival

VIJAYAWADA: About 300 stalls are likely to be put up by publishers from various parts of the country at the 17th edition of Vijayawada Book Festival, which will kick off at Swaraj Maidan (PWD Grounds) on January 1, 2006, to continue up to January 11, 2006.

Vijayawada Book Festival Society (VBFS) president R. Ramaswamy said at a press conference on Saturday that the number of stalls this year was expected to be more than over last year's 270.

Noted writer Mullapudi Venkataramana will inaugurate the festival, while Governor Sushil Kumar Shinde will attend the closing ceremony.

He said that in line with the tradition being followed for long of naming the venue after a publisher who made a significant contribution to the world of Telugu publishing, the Swaraj Maidan this year would be named after Jagadishlal Jetly of Asian Educational Services, New Delhi.
