Taking literature to school children
The exhibition, which opened as a prelude to the fete at the TUDA's sprawling Indira grounds here on Monday, had huge posters of eminent litterateurs, poets, writers and composers with detailed information on their works.
Twin purpose
The expo was inaugurated by Mudivarthi Kondamacharyulu, a septuagenarian litterateur. President of Telugu Samskruti Vikasa Vedika and TTD Chairman B.Karunakar Reddy, TUDA Vice-Chairman P. Mohan Reddy, DPP member Venkata Sarma among others addressed the children on the greatness of Telugu literature and the need to love their mother tongue.
By drawing hundreds of students from various Government and private schools, the organisers succeeded not only in taking the message across to the younger lot, but in ensuring their presence at the literary meet too.
Luminaries galore
The exhibition has details about ancient literary luminaries like Allasani Peddana, Vemana, Annamayya, Nannaya, Thikkana, Pothana, Srinatha, Molla, etc. and modern linguists and writers such as Gurazada, Chalam, Kandukuri, Srisri, Sankarambadi Sundarachari, Gurram Jashua, Viswanatha Satyanarayana and C.P.Brown.
The success of the novel idea can be gauged by the way the participants got engrossed and glued themselves to the display boards. Several students also went round the exhibition and took down information from the lives of the great writers.
