Jefferson Goblet Award for Telugu boy’s thesis

HYDERABAD: Here is a boy who has taken Telugu pride to sky high, literally. A Doctoral Candidate in University of Michigan శివ శంకర్ రుద్రరాజు (Siva Shankar Rudraraju) beat out over 90 competitors to win the prestigious Jefferson Goblet Best Student Paper Award from the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) for the year 2009.

The award, constituted under the name of former American President Thomas Jefferson, is given by the AIAA to a strong piece of writing by the student in support of the continued research and development of flight engineering. Siva is doing his PhD thesis under the direction of Associate Professor Krishna Garikipati, and Anthony Waas, Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Felix Pawlowski Collegiate Professor of Aerospace Engineering. His winning paper was co-authored by Professors Garikipati and Waas along with Amit Salvi from Aerospace Engineering.

A native of Konaseema Godilanka, Siva’s parents RVVSN Subba Raju and Padmavathi are currently residing in Alwal of Hyderabad.
