MoU inked for Telugu Museum atop Kailasagiri

VISAKHAPATNAM: Decks have been cleared on Wednesday for setting up of Telugu Museum (‘Telugu Samskrutika Niketanam’) atop the Kailasagiri with the signing of a memorandum of understanding by VUDA Vice-Chairman G Venkatram Reddy and World Telugu Federation (WTF) chairperson Indira Dutt.

The museum is estimated to cost Rs 5 crore and will throw light on the culture and heritage of the State from Satavahana era to the modern times. The history of Telugu people will be depicted through pictures and other forms and a light and sound show will be organised to enlighten the people.

The WTF will contribute Rs 3.8 crore and VUDA Rs 1.2 crore. On the occasion, Venkatram Reddy said the light and sound show will be conducted in English also for the benefit of foreigners and non-Telugu people visiting the hill resort. An amphitheatre will be promoted to conduct cultural shows regularly.

VUDA Chairman PSN Raju, WTF secretary general BSR Krishna, regional chairman Y Lakshmi Prasad, vice-chairman V Tapovardhan, secretary D Muralidhar Reddy, VUDA OSD Y Ramesh and others were present.
