Ugadi celebrations in Qatar


A musical performance by members of the Telugu Kala Samiti to mark the Telugu New Year Ugadi at Al-Shaheen Recreation Club, Mesaieed.

DOHA: The Telugu Kala Samiti (TKS), an Indian cultural body is organising a singing competition from May 27 to May 29 in remembrance of the great composer Annamacharya from the south Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.

The competitions, which will be open for boys and girls will be held in junior, senior and sub junior categories. The last date for submitting the entries is May 25.

Meanwhile, TKS organised a colourful cultural event dubbed Pandaga (festival) recently to mark the Telugu New Year Ugadi at Al-Shaheen Recreation Club, Mesaieed.

Zeyad Abu Ajina, managing director of Al Jabor Construction Company who was the chief guest inaugurated the event. Arun Milan of ICC and Trust Exchange Manager Brahma Rao also spoke.

The highlights of the event were a skit performed by Chamu Prasad and Durga Srinivas, an orchestra performed by a group of ladies, a skit by Meghana, Ritwik and Murali Krishna, and another skit 'Paramananda Shishyulu' by little kids.
