Vijayawada : Walk to support mother tongue
Vijayawada, Nov. 10: The Telugu Bhasha Chaitanya Samiti would organise a walk in the city on November 11 as part of the valedictory of the State Formation Week celebrations. The Samiti president, Mr M. Narayana Prasad and general secretary, Ms K. Vimala Kumari, here on Thursday said that the walk would be held upto the labour office at Satyanarayanapuram from the sub-collectorate.
They said that the walk was being organised to sensitise people on the importance of promoting mother tongue Telugu, which is called the Italian of the East. They expressed concern over the increasing tendency to ape western culture while looking down upon the mother tongue. The Samiti leaders also regretted that people were ill-treating those who speak Telugu and respecting those who spoke English.
