HYDERABAD: Doordarshan with 15 awards in different categories swept the Nandi TV Film Awards while ETV's Sri Bhagavatham won five awards, including the best director honour for Bapu.

The awards for the year 2004, announced by jury Chairman K.B. Tilak here on Tuesday, included the Achyut Award for best leading actor to Ranganadh (Rudrapeetam, ETV) and the best leading actress award to Neelima (Spoorthy, Doordarshan).

While Thyagaiah directed by Naren Adithya and Parivarthanam by Netaji for Doordarshan were adjudged first and second best tele-films, in the regular serial category. Rudrapeetam was chosen as the best followed by Sadguru Charitham on Maa TV.

In the mega serial category, Naanna directed by M. Murali Krishna won recognition as the best effort followed by Sri Bhagavatham. The daily serial category had Santosham on ETV being selected as the best and Oke Okkadu on Maa TV as the second best.

From the six children's TV films submitted to it, the jury picked Sukhavasi Hari Babu's Adavi Poolu (Doordarshan) and Dream Boy directed by Prem Chand for Teja TV as the best two serials respectively.

Documentary category

In the documentary category, both awards went to Doordarshan's Aatma Gowravam by Acharya Chakravarthula and Kondaveedu directed by K. Muthyam.

Doordarshan made a clean sweep in the Socially Relevant Film section, with Mohan Koda's Spoorthy and P. Sambasiva Rao's Bharthruhari Subhaashithaalu winning the honours.

The awards in individual category included best supporting actor for Adithya (Rudrapeetam), best supporting actress for Ragini (Naana in Gemini) and Jagadguru Sankara in Doordarshan, best comedian for Sivaji Raja (Aalasyam Amrutham Visham, Maa TV), best villain for Chinna (Santosham) and best child artiste for Vamsi Mohan (Naanna).

The best first film of a director award will be presented to Murali Krishna Mudidaani (Naanna), best screenplay award to P. Sambasiva Rao (Karpoora Vasantha Rayulu, Doordarshan), best storywriter to Jeedigunta Ramachandra Murthy (Bharthruhari Subhashithalu) and best dialogue writer for Aasam Srinivas (Naanna).

Chaitanya Prasad (Siri, Doordarshan) has been selected as best lyric writer, Thota V. Ramana (Rudrapeetam) as best cinematographer, Anoop (Kalasam, Gemini) for best music director award, Banti (Chakravakam, Gemini) as best male playback singer and Sasikala Swami (Kalyani, Doordarshan) was chosen as best female playback singer.

Individual honours

The other individual honours included best editor award to Kunapureddy Srinivas (Kalasam), best choreography for T. Pushpa Reddy (Rasajhari, Doordarshan), best radiographer award to Bala Sankar (Edi Nijam, Gemini) and best graphics to Aadepu Prakash (Kalasam). For their efforts for Sri Bhagavatham, Bhaskara Raju (best art director award), Babu Rao (best costume designer) and P. Rambabu (best makeup artiste) would also be honoured with the Nandi. The Special Jury Awards would be presented to Ramesh Kalaghatiga (Paryavarana Atavi Sampada Parirakshanapai Avagaahana Chithram), Silpa (Spoorthy) and Sreekar (Srivaari Sevalu, Maa TV). The awards would be presented in December.
