Only news stories published in Telugu will be considered
HYDERABAD: Ramon Magsaysay award winner Palagummi Sainath has announced an award to encourage Telugu journalists who are striving to bring to light the problems of rural Andhra Pradesh.
Award committee chairman K. R. Venugopal, former IAS officer, has invited news stories that reflect on issues relating to poverty, agriculture, education, public health, Dalits, tribes, the differently-abled and gender. Each journalist can send only one story. A series of stories written on the same subject can also be sent as a single entry. The award includes Rs. 25,000 cash.
Only news stories published in a Telugu daily or a Telugu news magazine published in 2007 will be considered. If any good story comes to the notice of the award committee suo motu, it would also be considered.
The entries should reach K. Jojaiah, secretary, Foundation for People’s Journalism, Sundaraiah Vignana Kendram, Bagh Lingampalli, Hyderabad- 500 044 on or before March 5.
