Readers looking for Chandamama’s Telugu stories can now find them at www.chandamama.com/telugu. The site contains a mix of popular Chandamama Telugu stories from mythology, historical, comical to contemporary. It is the first of Chandamama’s 12 language editions to go online. Following this in March’08 will be sites in Hindi and Tamil.

Commenting on the launch of the Telugu site, Chandamama CEO L. Subramanyan said, “We are excited to be the first children’s site in India to be available in two languages.” He also pointed out that “the Telugu site contains original stories written for the Telugu publication and in many cases these are different from the stories you will find on the English site. For example: On the Telugu site we are serializing the Ramayana, whereas on the English site our mythology segment contains stories from the Life of Krishna, the Devi Bhagvatam and Stories of Lord Ganesha.”

The launch of Chandamama Telugu is part of our 60 year commitment “to reach out to children and impart values and education, irrespective of language. We are conscious of our pan-Indian multi-lingual presence and we will continue to build on this in every one of our offerings,” he said.

Commenting on the launch, విశ్వనాధ రెడ్డి (Viswanatha Reddi), Editor & Publisher, Chandamama said, “It is indeed fitting that the first Indian language edition of Chandamama.com should be Telugu. Chandamama was initially launched, in 1947, in Telugu and Tamil. We had committed to the language editions available to our readers. This is the beginning of that commitment.”

The site content is classified into:
Classical: Including mythology, Panchatantra stories, Jataka Tales, Vikram/Vetala etc.
Contemporary: Including Indian and world history, stories about Indian achievers among others.
Current content: Deals with stories on science, general knowledge, sports etc as relevant to children.
