Telugu University to produce documentaries

Tirupati, August 18: Vice-Chancellor of Sri Potti Sriramulu Telugu Viswa Vidyalayam A. Manjulatha has said that the university has embarked upon a programme to produce documentaries on eminent literary personalities.

The episodes each lasting 30 minutes would be produced under the university’s programme called, భాష మందాకిని (Bhasha Mandakini), she said participating in the valedictory of the two-day seminar on ‘Bhoyi Bheemanna’s literary works’ which the university has organised in Sri Venkateswara University in collaboration with its Oriental Research Institute here.

Manjulatha said among the 10 documentaries planned for the current year,. one would be on Bheemanna and appealed to those who are in possession of any useful information, photographs, manuscripts, records etc relating to the life and works of Bhoyi Bheemanna might write to the university for necessary follow up.

Secretary of the State Human Rights Commission, S. Chellappa has opined that for all his thought-provoking, down-to-earth social satires in lucid style, Bhoyi Bheemanna should have been conferred the ‘Jnanapeeth’ .

Among the other participants who were present were Hymavathi Bheemanna, wife of the late writer, M. Naganna, Superintendent of Police, Guntakal, P.J. Sudhakar, Director, Doordarshan.
