Talking to newspersons here on Sunday the district president of PWA, R. Chandrasekhar Reddy, criticised the Government move stating that it would lead to scrapping of Telugu from the curriculum. The PWA would not hesitate to launch an agitation if the Government was firm with its plans to introduce the new stream, he said.
The move to scrap second language from Intermediate would hit Telugu and Urdu, Mr. Reddy noted. While the Governments of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka were encouraging students to take their respective languages the State Government was neglecting Telugu, he alleged. He also called upon the student unions to agitate against the Government move the scrap the second languages.

ANANTAPUR: The corporate colleges have been murdering Telugu by infusing Sanskrit inspite of Telugu being the mother tongue in Andhra Pradesh, accused Telugu Language Association State member R Chandrasekhar Reddy, writers Santi Narayana and J Premchand.
Addressing newsmen at the Press Club in the district on Sunday, they said the corporate college had been encouraging students to take Sanskrit for securing more marks and Intermediate Board had been playing only the role of audience.
Intermediate Board had been thinking of introducing Telugu and Urdu as second languages in the Intermediate syllabi. The Board should correct such distortions, they demanded.
