Life Time Achievement award for Dharmavarapu

Cinegoers' association awards announced


  • Prabhakar, Jahnavi judged best actor and actress
  • Best male and female anchors are Shivaji Raja and Jhansi
  • Srihitha bags best child artiste award

  • HYDERABAD: For his contribution to Telugu television, noted humour artiste ధర్మవరపు సుబ్రహ్మణ్యం (Dharmavarapu Subramanyam) has been chosen for the Life Time Achievement honour by Andhra Pradesh Cinegoers' Association while ప్రభాకర్ (Prabhakar) and జహ్నావి (Jahnavi) have been chosen for best actor and actress awards.

    The awards in best serials category announced by the association at a press meet here on Saturday include సిరి (`Siri') (Doordarshan), పద్మవ్యూహం(`Padmavyuham') (ETV), చక్రవకం (`Chakravakam') (Gemini) and సంబరాల రాంబాబు (`Sambarala Rambabu') (Maa TV).

    Best newsreaders

    Shivaji Raja (`Moguds-Pellams') and Jhansi (`Talk Of The Town') were adjudged best male and female anchors while Rajesh (`Chakravakam') and Lakshmi (`Nagastram') were selected as best new hero and heroine.

    The best child artiste awards goes to Srihitha (`Padmavyuham') while Badri and Deepthi Vajpayee (TV9) were chosen for best newsreaders.

    Sri Bhagavatham on ETV has been adjudged best mythology serial and Ranganath won the best villain award for his performance in the serial. Gundu Hanumantha Rao (`Amrutham') as best comedian, Sana and BHEL Prasad as best supporting actress and actor also figure in the award winners' list.

    Ganga Raj (`Nana'), Uday Bhaskar (`Srinivasaleelalu'), Rajendra (`Apradhi') and Neeraja (`Padmavyuham') were selected for Special Jury Awards.

    Association president G.S. Varadachary who announced the awards urged the channels to encourage local talent and offer clean entertainment.

    "Violence depicted on channels often is in bad taste and could have negative effect on viewers in impressionable age," he cautioned.

    The association has announced awards in 52 different categories and the jury that made the selections included C.N. Gopinath Reddy, Vasiraju Prakasham, S. Kondal Rao, B. Kishan, Vinod Bala and Nampally Madhu Babu.

    The awards presentation ceremony would be held towards October end.
