విశాఖపట్నంలో ఆంధ్ర రుచులు

Fun games additional attraction at food fete

FUN TIME: `Babai Abbai' of Visakha FM fame performing at the food festival at Green Park.

VISAKHAPATNAM: Known for popularising the cuisine of other States through its food festivals organised off and on, Green Park hotel here is currently holding `Andhra Ruchulu', a fete featuring the Telugu cuisine, which has become popular all over the country, thanks to its lip-smacking delicacies.

Sounds `carrying coal to New Castle'? But then, when non-Telugus have developed a taste for spicy Andhra foodstuff, can Telugus be far behind?

Right ambience

The Meadows lawns of the hotel has been given a distinct Andhra ambience, with రంగోళి (rangoli), దీపాలు (deepaalu), తొరణం (thoranam) and floral decoration, besides offering గోరింటాకు (henna) treatment and గాజులు (bangles) to women patrons.

Mouth-watering buffet

The hotel's master chefs have provided a large mouth-watering buffet spread for the gourmets of Vizag to choose from: నాటు కోడి పులుసు (natu kodi pulusu), ఆంధ్ర చేపల వేపుడు (Andhra chepala vepudu), బొమ్మిడాలు పులుసు (bommidalu pulusu), గుత్తి వంకాయ కూర (guttivankaya kura), ములక్కాడ టమాట జీడిపప్పు కూర (mulakkada tomato jeedipappu kura), పులిహోర (pulihora), కొబ్బరి అన్నం (kobbari annam), chutneys exclusive to Telugus, బొబ్బట్లు (bobbatlu), బూరెలు (boorelu) and పరవాణ్ణం (paravaannam), to name only a few.

``In short, it is a lavish veg and non-veg unlimited,'' claims its resident manager K. Mohan Krishna.

Even as the guests go round the lawns picking their favourite dishes, they are treated to wholesome entertainment of Tollywood-fame numbers by a live band.

Gifts and prizes

An added attraction is the rib-tickling programme continuously being dished out by the famous `Babai-Abbai' duo of Visakha FM.

These apart, like any other food festival, there are lots of fun games with gifts and prizes up for grabs.

Hurry up, as Andhra Ruchulu will be on up to Tuesday only.
