Need to analyse impact of literature as a binding force

Seminar on `Telugu literature: human relations and values'

VIJAYAWADA: Speakers at a national seminar on `Telugu literature: human relations and values' organised by the Montessori Mahila Kalasala here on Saturday emphasised the need for analysing the impact of literature in developing and strengthening human relations in today's competitive world.

Delivering the keynote address, Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad, of Andhra University, pointed out that through the centuries, Telugu literature and writers contributed only to setting standards in moral values. The all-important aspect of standardising human relations and contacts was neglected totally till some writers began selecting even trivial matters as the core of their writings.

Prof. Prasad said that though Rama and Sita faced a lot of trials and tribulations during their lifetime, literature as it was taught portrayed them as an ideal couple and one would bless a newly married couple to live like them. G Krupachari a professor at Acharya Nagarjuna University said that there would be an indirect influence of literature on human relations and this was a constantly evolving subject.

The Montessori president, V.V. Krishna Rao, the Director & Correspondent V. Koteswaramma, the Principal, M. Eeswaramma, and others spoke.
