Nellore : Cultural events lined up for Ugadi

`Kavi Sammelanam' to be highlight of the celebrations

NELLORE: The District Culture Department, along with the Government Music and Dance School, will organise `Sarvajit' Ugadi festival here on Monday at Sri Venkateswara Kasturba Kalakshetram.

The Ugadi festivities would commence with Nadaswaram at 9 a.m followed by పూర్ణకుంభం (Purnakumbham) at 9.15 a.m and పంచాంగ శ్రావణం (Panchanga Sravanam) by Sri Purnananda Sastry at 9.25 a.m.

A కవి సమ్మేలనం (Kavi Sammelanam) will also be organised at 10 a.m, according to District Collector M. Ravi Chandra.

Noted poets Perugu Ramakrishna, Eduru Sudhakar, Madduru Srinivasulu, Chinni Narayana Rao, Shiekh Khader Sharief, Anuradha Ramakrishna, Vanjavaka Satish Kumar, I. Ramaswami, Chiramana Venkataramanaiah, Pelluri Sunil, Chiranjeevi and Dr. D. L. Suhasini will participate in the Kavi Sammelanam. Later, the District Collector will present Ugadi awards and pensions to elderly artistes.

Noted speaker Amruthavakkula Seshu Kumar will deliver a lecture on `Mudduloleku Basha Ma Telugu Basha' at 11. 25 a.m. The celebrations will end with cultural programmes, which will be conducted by the Government Music and Dance school.

Meanwhile, Nellore Rachaytala Sangham (Nerasam) will also conduct Hasya and Ugadi Kavi Sammelanam at IMA Hall at Saraswati Nagar from 5 p.m.

he Hasya Kavi Sammelanam will be conducted Mr. Ramakrishna while Ugadi Kavi Sammelanam will be conducted by Aluru Siromani Sarma, Pathuri Annapurna, Eturi Nagendra Rao and Ethakota Subba Rao.
