Festival to reflect on golden era of Telugu cinema
Chennai: A festival of films of the Golden era- 1935-1965- of Telugu cinema, will be held here from tomorrow.
The festival, to be held on Sundays will screen nine popular films of yesteryears, Mr M S Murti and Mr B Nagesh Chairman and Founder president of the newly formed Indian Telugu Associaition, which is sponsoring the festival told newsmen here today.
The festival was organised to reflect on the high standards of film making set by the film artists of that era and reassure the Telugu film industry that it has a great future.
The nine films to be shown representing different genres were not only artistic, but were also very successful at the box office, proving that Telugu audiences respond good art.
They said the festival would open with the mythological film "Maya Bazar ", followed by "Bhakta Potana, "Swarga Seema", "Malleeswari", "Devadasu", "Pedda Manushulu", "Missamma", "Nartana Saala" and "Mooga Manasulu".
venue is Russian cultural centre and the entrace is free,they added.
They said during the interval some of the artistes associated with these films will be honoured.
